This study is dedicated to the analysis of socio-democratic movements in Kyrgyzstan during the period of 1985–1991 — their prerequisites, dynamics, obstacles, and historical significance. It highlights the key aspects of social movements in the era of Perestroika, including the influence of socio-economic, political, and cultural factors.
The research applies theoretical approaches to the study of social movements, such as the concepts of deprivation, resource mobilization, and political opportunities. The methodology includes interviews with participants and witnesses of the events, as well as analysis of archival data, memoirs, and media publications.
The study reveals how social movements in Kyrgyzstan became an important factor in political and social change, influencing the emergence of Kyrgyzstan’s independence and the formation of its national identity.
